I love my tempest. I sometimes wish the back was a little flatter but I do use the space to stash my day chair and coat, etc.

Had few Tempests,now have ultralite and absolutely love it.Its the best bivvy I have owned closely followed by the Aqua m3.

Has a few tempests to is there plenty of headroom in the ultralite compared to the tempest

prefer the tempest design, pioneer bag is huge and heavy, need the silly two poles to put it up and down, then have to put storm poles to hold the bivvy up, tempest has none of that, pull the bar over and its self standing, folds in half into bag half the size

Ultralite not pioneer,I can set my ultralite just as quick as my mate sets up his tempest

Tempest as more robust in bad weather. Especially when putting up and down.
Have owned both and love both but tempest just edges it.

I prefer the Pioneer design as it more closely resembles a brolly footprint but without the ribs inside.
Tempest gives more headroom and IMO goes up much quicker.
I've got the Pioneer 100 and would only swap that for an Ultralight, won't be doing that any time soon though.
Perfect Bivvy for me would be the 100 size, ultralight block etc with the Tempest Erection poles.

I personally think the Aquatexx on the Aqua Shelters is better quality than Trakker too, yes heavier but feels much more robust and doesn't let as much light through!

Had both. Loved my Ultralite and how much the cap covered, but my tempest has much more usable space and I think packs up smaller. Also the tempest can free stand making it easier to set up.

I've got both but I'm afraid the Ultralite (original or Pioneer Ultralite 100 - NOT the hobbit sized Pioneer 100) gets more use than my V2 Tempest, especially for typical UK sessions (24-48hrs)
Better headroom and visibility, smaller footprint, better thicker material, semi-perm twin skin and better overall versatility, I can also set it up quicker than the Tempest . . . .
The only area where the Tempest scores is once the arms are assembled / fanned out and locked it is self supporting, however this is hardly a benefit unless erecting in the face of a hooligan wind; and that benefit is no where near as good as an Armo / Pramhood anyway.
Do like my V2 however for longer sessions / France etc - the utility front is a great addition especially if you are sitting out a downpour for a week
