May seem a stupid question, have a set of these now having been a daiwa user since day one. Love the reels, in fact the best by a mile I've ever used. Only thing I don't like the quick drag, I like to have a few turns of play in it. Is there a way of perhaps adding washers in the spool, or something along the lines to slow the drag down a bit.

How many turns have you got from locked up (ready for a big chuck) to baitrunner (just a little resistance).
I did a qd conversion on my old shimano ultegra XT reels. They were about 3 full turns from tight to baitrunner and it was a faff.
Now they are about one full turn and it's great.
Although there is less turn's there is adequate adjustment on the drag when playing a fish, it's just that there is much less movement when making the little minor adjustments when playing a fish.
A few drops of 3 in 1 oil is better than grease for felt washers, just enough to wet the washers.
The grease can become too viscous and sticky when cold.

You could try changing some of the washers from the carbon ones to the normal drag washers.I think Future reel servicing do them or Felindre

Get some grease felt washers for them and remove the current ones that are in the the top of the spool with grease felt ones in their place that will make it more turns from locked up to free spool

It's about 1/4 a turn, not a lot at all. I could suffer a full turn to be fair, just something to get used to but I do prefer having loads of room to play with.

Have ordered some grease washers for my 1400 xtb's from weston developments. See what that does, love the reels, hate the 1/4 turn drag, it's just too quick end up using back wind.

You can play with the number of felt washers you put in, combine with original washers to find the setting you want, I have replaced two of the original ones myself.
