I`m looking for reccomendations for a mono line that would be best if i need to fish long range in snaggy waters.
So far been using Shimano Technium Black at 0.31 and it`s good (it`s really strong - i`ve pulled branches out of the water with it) but it does coil up a lot..
I had a look at the Synchro XT Loaded and Fox Exocet (both at 0.30-0.31mm options) as they are rated as good casting lines, but i can also go back to the Technium as well.

Gerry, I think it a little strange that you should be so strongly recommending a line that you haven't even used
I have seen you mention it on here and also of the barbel forum as some new wonder line... a possible rebirth of Catana.
You're just going off a recommendation by a new member called Mike Hunt
with only three posts...

Mmmmm your making a lot of assumption's TRY getting your acts right before gobbing off

but its not that new its been out quite a while and 2 good friends of mine have been using it for a long time one has had Two very successful trips this summer one in Italy and one in France where he said Its just like having Catana back and he got it just in time as his Shimano Technium Black needed replacing
then the other mate said virtually the same thing its just like Catana and if you bother reading the forum you will see a couple of forum members singing its praises that have been using it
and yes OF COURSE YOU KNOW I havent used it as Im terminally ill and now disabled so I cant ****ing use it you **** !
but it wont stop me TRYING to help people get the best buy for their money so do me a favour and go **** yourself
ANYONE that knows me knows I wont recommend anything that I havent used normally and I dont recommend rubbish but now I am forced to rely on personal friends whos opinions I can count on

What BS did you get mate?
I got some and found it lighter(thinner than stated BS) and coily off the spool (it came on) .
Crazy as it sounds I still want to use it (in higher BS) - low stretch and seems really supple. I'd imagine it casts well looking at it.

The. 35m I think from memory. 21lb BS. I used to be a big fan of Hydrotuff, bit this stuff is better.

Yeah, I got the 15lb version which is stated 0.35 on the tin.
Going by a beady eye and other .35 monos, looks more like 0.34 or even lower to me - I woudn't wanna go too mad with it.

Thanks for the replies guys. Anyone used the Exocet from Fox on 12lb - is it any good?
Pretty much any thin casting line (0.30 - forget the lb rating) is going to be awful for any snaggy water and will break easily.
You want to use the thickest line possible that still allows you to get to where you want to fish. If you can't reach it using 0.40 + sized line then either get better rods or don't fish at that distance as you'll just be getting cut off all the time leaving fish trailing you rigs and line in the lake.
There's no such thing as a highly abrasion resistant 0.30 line. Thickest line possible👍

Roughly around 120 yards. I`m using Greys Aiircurve 3.25lb at 12ft with 3.5 oz leads
