Well I've been done again, All I'm after is 1lb bs pole elastic, the stuff I've just bought is about 6lb bs and is basically useless for what im doing, I really don't want to go back to elastic bands because of the heat down here.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt you would get it with a BS of 1lb based on the fact that users of it would be using hooklengths of up to 1/2lb nylon, which would mean a mainline of more than that, about 2lb. The rule of thumb is the max line you use is half the number of the pole elastic.
So based on that, even a number 2 pole elastic would be too strong so you might be looking for a size 1 but I suspect that would take more than 1lb to snap it. But, I think size 1 pole elastic is a bit rare, but Drennan do it.
Alternatively there is Fox marker elastic which is very thin, I can snap it easy tying it and pulling the knot to tight, but I suspect it would still be stronger than 1lb.
Then their is another alternative, shearing elastic, but I would suspect that also is stronger than 1lb even though I can snap it easy after wrapping baits with it. If my sea fishing tackle was handy I could have tested it.
Another alternative, pop into a millinery shop and see what elasticated thread they have, our lass has some in her sewing box, but giving it a pull till it snaps, its more than 2lb but their may be thinner ones.
Another alternative is to go into a millinery shop and buy some knicker elastic or whatever its called, ,maybe braided elastic, flat elastic or elastic cord, its like a ribbon about 1/2 inch wide and pick the elastic strands out of it, its very cheap and you would only need about a foot. probably 30p or less. If I recall, the individual strands are very weak and very flexible. Something tells me that this would be the best option.
