New winter ticket starting next week the lakes are very weedy and a fair amount of islands and snags. Wanting to use my 3lb 10ft wychwood extractor plus rods as the lakes are broken up into bays and tree lined

Not sure if the rods will be too soft around the weed and snags but there perfect in size for the situation.

Anyone had any experience using similar rods for this type of work. Fish go upto mid 40s and have been told they scrap well.

My Other rods are 13ft so it's either sell the 13s for some 12s or heavier test 10s.

I think you'll be okay, providing you're using heavy line and large hooks etc. also likely the weed will retreat a bit

I've been using those 10ft extricator plus rods all year, trust me, I've bullied big fish out of and away from snags, they'll be fine

That's good to hear. Gone back onto 17lb x line. Been on casting mono and 13ft rods last 2 years
