I think this is the main place for spare parts, I gave up trying to get a part for a T-Rex in the end and moved the other reels on.

Thanks I had a look at that website too, I've managed to fix the problem now , the spring wasn't broken at all, however the drag wouldn't tighten and just continually turned, wouldn't lock tight. Easy fix in the end.

When you take the drag knob apart there are several bits including a threaded hexagonal nut, that nut is threaded half way down its centre, that thread is what attaches to the thread on the spindle of the reel and allows the clutch to be tightened or loosened.
The correct way for that nut is for the thread to be at the top of the reel towards the rod tip, with the unthreaded half towards the spool, for some reason my spindle thread wasn't engaging with the thread in the nut, I imagine either the thread in the nut or spindle got stripped somehow, simply reverse the nut so the thread is closest to the spool end and it works again.
Quite hard to explain but easy to do !

You've explained it very well, but a weird thing to happen.
Did you buy the reels second hand, maybe the previous owner has been heavy handed when screwing down the spool.

No had it from new , two years faultless work, including at least x 4 40lb fish on this reel, thankfully I realised there was an issue as the rod was out on a spot ! , it was only because I wanted to lower the indicator a bit that it became apparent, was fine when I set the rod after casting out. I have two so put the knob from the other one on and it was fine, so must be at the drag knob end not the spindle ?
It was a cheap reel , but has been really good , had it been completely knackered it wouldn't have been the end of the world, just don't like chucking stuff out if they can be fixed.
