I googled Milli Vanilla and they are a R&B duo.
Surely R&B mean rhythm and blues? If so Milli Vanilla and others of that genre aren't.
So why are they labelled R&B

There's a history to the term. Started off as an alternative to 'race music' and then developed to include and incorporate more styles from jazz to funk to pop etc.

So why did they choose the letters R&B as an alternative to race music when R&B was already in use for another genre?
