Daiwa not Davies bloody auto correct
Have spooked up my daiwa whisker 25's. They seem to have a slight lip at the front of them and i don't know if that's how it's meant to be or if they're like the old cast'izms that need the spool washers added / removed. When i compare them to my old shimano the line lay just doesn't look anywhere near as nice. It's happened on all 3 reels and i've spoiled them up how i've spooled every reel i've owned in the last 30 years. So wondering if it's normal, is the front of the spool designed to be like that. Would upload pictures but not sure how to.

I prefer mostly Daiwa reels and the actual line lay is never very good on any of them certainly not as good as Shimano reels even on my Basia's the line lay isn't great.
But in what you have described line lay aside I would say it is probably the washer orientation needs swapping around , I have some Emblem BR25'A reels I bought a few years back that when I spooled them from the box without checking the washer configuration all loaded front heavy, I put the line around wrapping sticks in the garden altered the washers for level line lay and the line went back on much better although still looks messy compared to my Shimano Ultegra 5500 XTD reels.
Same sort of price for each reel at the time as a comparison but the Shimano line lay is another level over the Daiwa's.
