I have a set of old Daiwa whiskers and currently have some Shimano 6000 x-aero baitrunners on.
They are my small water rods.
I have the chance to swap the reels for some old Daiwa Iso 5000 tournaments.
I'm tempted as they are old as well (not as old as the rods I know), but do you think they will be to big and make the rods unbalanced?

No they'll be fine IMO.

Swap them, best reels ever made the original iso's. I use castizms on my 2.5's which are like a smaller version of the iso.

Would be good to know your budget ?

I guess you'll only be casting up to 80 yards so I'd be looking at smaller reels with not too deep spools.

Shimano Ultegra 5500 size, also look at Penn or okuma.
