I'm looking to get breakdown cover for my French trip for a company van, but all the policies I've looked at only cover privately registered vehicles. Can anyone offer any ideas, or have any experience with taking company cars/vans over to France? Thanks in advance!

Have you spoken to the company insurer? When I spoke to our fleet insurance broker all they needed to do was put a note on the account for the dates the vehicle would be used abroad and that was that.

I'll give that a try, thanks. In the past I've paid for cover myself, not realising that I wouldn't be covered in the event that I did break down, waste of £40 that was.

When I used to go to France I used the RAC. For company van
You will probably require a “green card” aswell

Thanks, i looked at this site the other day, couldn't see anywhere in the terms about the vehicle having to be registered to the policy holder so this might be the one. I think I'll call them and check first though.

If the van is leased you'll need a VE103. The lease company will issue one. Can't remember how much they charge.

Just to update, i used eurobreakdown.com as suggested in post 5. I called them to confirm that they would cover a company vehicle, they said it would be fine as long as it wasn't being used for business purposes.
