Probably been asked a thousand times already but here goes.
Looking at getting a heavier set up than my current one for bag/distance fishing. Been looking at the daiwai infinity 3.25lb tc and also the fox horizon 6 also in 3.25lb tc. I've got 2.75 horizons now (probably 10 years old) and they're excellent for most of my fishing but not for 4-5oz bags.
Anybody got user reviews of the above rods or others I could consider in the same price bracket. I'll be looking to pair them with 14000 ultegras

Go on a casting tuition for a day with Terry Edmonds or Mark Hutchinson.
It will be the Best money you will ever spent BEFORE shelling out on new rods, that may not be best suited to your needs, technique, or budget.

Do not buy a rod from a tackle company like Fox,good rods but wait two years until a new model gets released and spares for your rod are not available.Go to a company that make rods imo is the best option,Harrison Century but don't buy a freespirit rod off the shelf if you go that route

The shimano tx2 13ft intensity is probably the best long range rod for the money.
Can be had for about £90 each, and you'd have to pay three times that to get a rod that will be a significant upgrade.

strangely enough i watched a terry edmonds video and he was using those rods to good effect. surprising considering they're their budget end rods

he used to recommend them in his casting lessons if you're on a budget.

no problem, i went for Harrisons, one of the reasons was i got to cast it on my lesson with Terry.

On my lesson with TE I hit 140yds with my 12' 3.25tc TX2 with 15lb synchro and a 3.5oz lead. . . cannot hit that range with my 12' Aviator Plus . . .

I can quite easily do 35 wraps with the tx2 intensity 13ft rods (130 metres) with rigs baited up but like all other rods you'll need to use tapered mono, I used tapered 12lb (0.33) mainline and hit these distances and landed fish to 55lb.
For big distances 13ft rods just make it easier.
Obviously you could do even further distances with a 0.30 tapered mainline.
It's difficult to see past these rods if your looking at hitting decent distances for the price.
The only way to avoid crack offs when using powerful LD rods is to use a tapered mainline as the strain it puts on the line is immense.
Anyone that says they only used a 0.35-0.40 line and never had crack offs must be fishing at lower ranges. simple as.

3.25 might be a little light from my experience. I had 3.25 greys xlerates and they where fine chucking leads a good distance i felt they were undergunned for bags and i wish i went for 3.5tc after a bit.
See if you can get hold of a set of aircurves they seem to get great reviews, although you wont get much back for them if you ever think of selling, if it matters

The tx range bang for buck I have a set of tx4 12ft used for anything up to 110/120 an set of tx7 13ft for the long distance work an both rods pack a punch for the price range.
Was thinking of possibly 4 of the tx2 13ft intensity and using one as a spod and marker. Mate uses a tx4 12ft 3.25tc as spod and marker and we both only use the midi spombs so should be ok
