If there are any Car Techs on the forum (seem to remember there's a couple), please could you answer a question for me.

Are historic error codes stored on the EMU/ECU irrespective of being cleared?

I have a cheap reader (Foxwell NT301), I know codes can be cleared/reset, I've done it, and I know they show as cleared on mine.

What I dont know is if on dealers/more expensive software the codes are retained in a history thats unavailable to me.

Any help much appreciated.
