I've used the ESP zig and floater line in 0.28 for a while - never had a problem but someone recommended the Gardner HD floater line in 0.28 and I've changed to that because I needed to respool.
Over the past week or so I've found it incredibly fragile - snapping really easily and low knot strength. It's cost me a couple of fish today which is frustrating.
I always check the line for abrasions etc.
I always thought Gardner line was very good but my experience has been terrible. Anyone else has similar with this line?

Maybe you had a duff spool of the Gardner HD floater line . I've used it for the last few years surface fishing as a hook length and as the main line on the reel in 12lb and never had any problems at all best line I've found for floater fishing

Had the Gardner HD floater line on at least 2 seasons no problems at all, rate Gardner for lines .

Must be a bad batch then - will strip a bit off and see if that helps

Stripped a fair bit and managed another trip out - 7 fish, none lost. Seems like the first 50yards or so must have been damaged either by me or a bad batch.

I use Fox Zig & Floater and I've had a similar problem I mentioned a while back.
Off the spool its great stuff....but...I keep my hook links if not damaged for use another day and I've had them snapping far too easily on reuse. I put it down to UV damage as quite often it literally snapped randomly on the length. I make sure to keep the spool out of sunlight now, even for short periods and use new hook links every time.
With modern brands selling the same product under different names who knows whats the same product as a alternative, I'd be tempted to make sure of different diameters rather than different brands!
