Excuse the stupidity, but generally, if you have a fully comprehensive policy in uk, would that then cover you to drive somebody else's vehicle in France? Cheers 👍🏻
Unlikely, but it's dependant on the policy. At best it would be 3rd party cover only I would have thought. Better to get the extra driver to be added to the policy for that car/van temporarily. I did this last year, not that expensive .

Ask as previously mentioned
A lot of insurances will only cover 3rd party on driving someone else's car and that's in the uk.

WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BEWARE most insurance company's dont tell you BUT ITS IN the small print !!!!!!!!
when you leave the UK your nice fully comprehensive insurance NEARLY ALWAYS
drops to the the minimum cover required in that country usually THIRD PARTY ONLY ( no fire no theft )
I know of a young welsh lad on waking up late was rushing to the ferry and got T-boned luckily from the empty passenger side the car was a total write off
and on financed with 2 years left to pay then he found out his fully comp had dropped to 3rd party in France
I was with Royal Sun Alliance when I did my European fishing and always paid an additional £10 premium every time I went that made sure my cover was the same for that month as at home
DONT GAMBLE PICK THE PHONE UP and check with your insurance company
