I have a mk1 tempest brolley that I've had since 2016 and the fabric seems to be going see through in a couple of areas and is leaking in one bit. It's not my main shelter anymore but I do use it for day sessions and odd over nighters and it would be a shame to chuck it away. Is there any way of redoing the coating on it or is it knackard.

3 ply hot melt tape over any obvious holes or tears from the inside.
Repeat outside if it's a stress point.
Fabsil the outer.
Here is a repair I recently did on a tempest composite. It was ripped apart. The pegging point was ripped right off and it also took away a 2" square of the actual bivvy material, and also two long rips right back to the next pole, about 18-20". I had to sew in a big patch and then make and sew in a new pegging point, then used the tape to reinforce and seal everything inside and outside.

Hi it's not ripped or torn anywhere It's just a couple of places below the boss that have started to go see through. Where did you get the tape from, is it a permanant fix.

It's brilliant stuff.
You can get clear 2 ply but it doesn't stick nearly as well. Get the 3ply, it has much better glue.
I did use the 2ply clear on the outside but it didn't seem solid enough and it easily peeled off so I redone it with the 3ply and although it's a bit more visible it really is a solid repair.

Just remembered I've got a skull cap for it lol, I'll use that for the time being, I think I'll definitely try some of that tape though.

Did you cover the main bivvy material with a cloth or something before ironing, I'd be scared of melting it ,thanks

Yeh, you must use a cotton tea towel type material.
It's surprising how little heat you need to melt the glue on the tape. Find a bit of nylon to have a practice on and you'll soon be confident. Low to medium heat on the iron.
