Torn between these two can't make my mind up, to go on 10ft rods. Both seem to get great reviews.

Got both, the Daiwa is slightly better Reel, better built feels more solid.
Daiwa has a normal drag (slower).
Okuma is slightly smaller, and fast drag.
Both weigh the same.
Even though I prefer the Daiwa, for a 10 foot rod and close in work I'd go to my Okuma. (just)
Better balance.

just the anti reverse problem put me right off the okuma,

Can't offer a comparison as I have never handled the Okuma but the Emcast 25a is a cracking reel, I would happily use them over my Cast'izms.

I have had both - the daiwa emcast is a much better reel - feels more solid and better drag. I have since got rid of the Okumas cracking reels for the price.

Ditch both and go for a Wychwood extricator -great big spool ,small body,good clip, look good. Future fishing do them with quick drag spools.
