Looking for some mid priced bivvy advice please. My carp fishing is now limited to a week or two in France, spring to autumn. Looking for a one man bivvy, seen Cyprinus and Quest in the flesh but not prologic. How do they compare ? Any views based on experience would be appreciated. Thank you
I have the Quest Defier and the utility front.
I haven't used the utility front yet, but VERY pleased with the bivvy. Seems very well made, nice and dark inside and very easy to put up.
The zip in groundsheet and good headroom are big positives for me too.
It is a true one man, not having a flat back, so not a whole lot of extra room once your bedchair is in.
Not an issue for me, as I wanted a more compact bivvy and also the option of using it as a day shelter, with the front zipped off.
The Prologic , I haven't seen so can't comment.
Cyprinus went out of business a while back, so not an option unless buying used.
All in all, I would say that the Quest is a great choice.

I've got 4 bivvies including a couple that cost twice as much as the defier but I use the defier more than any of them, it's light, up and down quick and well ventilated if needed, deffo recommend
The overwrap is good also

I currently have a very old one man JRC STI with an extreme overwrap. It's about 15 years old, still very serviceable and owes me absolutely nothing. Been very pleased with it. But I'm pushing on into my 70's now and much as I hate to admit it, struggling physically a little. The JRC is a little hard to assemble and disassemble. It's also very low and it's this that's persuading me that I need a replacement. Does any of this impact your advice ? Thanks

I think it depends on how long you expect support from the brand themselves ....
Quest - If willing to take your chances that the company will be around long enough to honour any garuantees im sure will be fine,
Cyprinus (as no longer trading) I would avoid buying unless get a cracking deal (i defo wouldnt pay anywhere near new prices for a brand that no longer trading).
Pro-Logic - A recognised brand with some credability but probably difficult to see in the flesh ... Rods/reels are questionable - but ive always found their clothing/luggage/bivvies to be good products - this would be my preference

Check quest tackle their Facebook they are serious about their bivvy's and listening to the people, have had the Defier 10,000HH version great bivvy the Mk2 is even better with lots of options, i'm waiting for the 3rd version of the Defier hopefully this one gets a flat back and 4 windows this could possibly be the only bivvy so far that I would exchange my Frontier X for
I'll give a vote for the Quest Defier, I've got the camo version and its the best bivvy I've owned, 20k material is so good, blocks out all light if you have to get your head down when its light out, zip in groundsheet is a game changer as well, helps so much in the winter keeping heat in, no drafts coming in under the bivvy or anything. Inner vapour shield is really nice as well for condensation. I think they were doing deals on Facebook at the minute as well, like £200 for the 10k version with the skull cap and the full bivvy system.

Thanks for all the advice. I've just acquired a second hand but essentially brand new Quest mark 3 2 man bivvy, around one third of the new price. Easy to erect and take down, nice height and size and impressive quality, at least by first impressions. Looking forward to my next France trip now.
