Ok so slowly getting back into my carping after a long absence and need to purchase a new bivvy. Not sure how many nights I will be doing and on a tight budget and so I am thinking of going down the 2nd route. Currently looking at a JRC Tx 2G 1 man which has a peak along with mosi mesh and also a Fox Royale classic of similar spec both of which are around the £100 mark. My local tackle has the Fox bivvy which I can look at before buying which is handy. Should I be going down this route ( second hand ) or should I spend a little more and purchase new like the Fox EOS which I can find at about £180.

There are some great bargains out there on the 2nd hand market. I would advise to view before you buy, check all the zips pegging points etc.
They are also fairly easy to reproof. A tub of fabsil, a brush, and a nice sunny day are all you need.

I was going to suggest the Undercover bivvy from Solar as a bargain. I have one and used a few times (prefer a brolly normally) and for the money it is great, especially with the reductions on them at the moment, which I assume is because they are discontinuing the range and focussing on the Uni Spiders (I don't know that, just looks like it's the case to me). I would always prefer to buy new than 2nd hand unless you are able to closely inspect for the reasons outlined below

Alex why dont you have a thumb ? you have made enough posts ?
then you can access the classifieds
you just missed a couple of new bivvies very cheap !! it might be an idea to list what you prefer some folk like little low shelters others need max height
some want acres of space some like to keep it compact

I bought a jrc defender one man off ebay for£104 delivered including the much needed second skin,absolute piece of pi$$ to erect and take down,fashion statement no,fit for purpose......oh yes. Weighs nothing, takes no space.
