Have been having problems recently with the Korda size 8 QC swivels and stiff booms - the crook is basically too tight and after a period of regularly removing hooklinks (to sharpen points / replace hook baits / remove from rig when a fish is in the net) the looped section seemingly gets damaged; its only because I've got OCD and like a perfectly straight boom I always give them a pull and have had several on my last session (some crimped / some tied with a figure of 8) break at the apex of the loop which is more than worrying . . .
Has happened on a combo of materials from 15-20lb CamH20 to 25lb OMC Kickback . . .can anyone recommend a less abrasive QC swivel with a larger gate so that the material isnt compressed when attaching / removing?

not very often I will recommend any ridgemonkey product but their quick change swivels are good...ive started using them for similar reason your encountering...I was using seaguar ace hard flouro in .37 diameter and the rm ones are fine

yes mate, the wire looks thin on them but never caused me any trouble.

I had the same using the Korda heli leaders so just opened the gate a tiny bit and problem solved.......

I was considering doing that but was worried about 'weakening' the crook and having the swivel fail; I've never had this prob before but may have been using the Fox Size 7 or ESP jobbies (have no idea as chucked the packs away) without realising . . .
In terms of design (and especially using high diameter booms) I don't actually understand why it needs to be a 'crook' anyway and not just a larger version of a Ronnie swivel (U shape) as a tight tapered sleeve will stop the hooklink coming off anyway. . .

I've been using the Gardner QC rings since they first came out. They are a bit more fiddly to use but if you use your thumb nail to open up the ring the stiff boom material slides easily through the ring.
An added bonus is because they don't use any silicone to keep the loop in the ring unlike the crook shaped Korda ones, it creates another hinge point on your stiff rig - ie you have the first hinge point between the supple hooklink and the boom material ( Amnesia and Merlin braid in my case) and then another hinge point where the figure of eight loop is in the ring but not trapped and is free moving. You've just upped your anti eject effect 50% 👍

Weirdly (or maybe not) I was an early adopter of the corkscrew type swivels when QC was not even a thing - just looking at Gardner quite like the look of the Link Lock swivels as these dont require a tapered sleeve either (although being able to do both would be a benefit)
