I'm just building up a setup for Piking ready for when the season kicks in but am contemplating having a go for the resident carp through the summer months. I'm going to be using braid mainline for the pike and am wondering if I can continue using it if I switch to carping. I'm using 3lb test rods and probably something in the region of 60lb braid. I'll have to check the lake rules regarding braid mainlines anyway to make sure it's allowed.
So would I be able to switch my terminal tackle and use the same line for carping? The place is pretty much snag free and the biggest fish only goes about 20lb so there's nothing too harsh to cope with. Would I maybe be better off adding a mono shock leader? I have no spare spools for my Okuma baitrunners so I'm trying to avoid having to strip off the braid to replace it with mono. If I need to though, I'll buy a couple of spools (if I can find any) and load them with mono. Whatever is best for fish welfare is what I'll do.

I'd only use it for the carp if the braid is yellow or orange.
