Just wondering what we all think to fishing slack lines in a 40ft+ pit where the bottom is like an eggbox and the plateaus can be 10ft+ higher than the bottom.
Don't know if im overthinking it and should just get on with it.
The thought of tight lines onto these plateaus is even worse though I guess.

Not a lot of point in slack lines, you'd have to pay out so much line in those depths, even semi slack isnt much point, wouldnt have an isue with tight lines at those depths personally.

Problem you have is the undertow which can be savage on deep pits.
I used to regularly fish in about 38 ft and would cast out and get everything thight and if there wasn't any undertow slack of acouple of feet.
Used to add extra putty to the first 4ft of my leader.
I used to catch my fair share .
I always used 5oz leads as well.
