I'm after a large spod for heavy baiting at 30 to 40 yards. Has anyone seen anything that would work? I think it was cobra who used to make some really big ones. Spombs are to slow to load so that's not an option

What do you term as large? very few spods on the market these days theres a few on ebay up to 8" x 50mm diameter, aside from that I think its back to the days of a homemade jobbie

Must admit the slow load and close of a Spomb to me is negated by the speed of emptying, although I still do use a large spod occasionally if I'm not putting any boilies in the mix and like a larger spread.

Largest spod I've seen for sale is around 7inches, a few sellers on the bay.

I have an xl spod somewhere, holds about 3 times more than a normal spod, got it a few years ago off someone on the cemex forum. Its in my garage somewhere.

Cheers guys, may have to look at making something. It's for prebaiting with a sticky particle mix so spill isn't too much of an issue

I used to make home made spods from a full length mastic/silicone tube. I drilled holes from the nose end to half way up, used some stainless wire to make a 4 sided support that ended in a loop of wire. I then added sme plastic fins with hot melt glue.
I could get it to about 70 yards when 3/4 filled and was perfect for getting some in.

Back in the 80's I did that with a length of drainpipe, polystyrene and a boat rod, you could still do it today.

I think alot of use made spods for particles and the sterodent tubes for boiles

A shampoo bottle was my go to item for making spod's. No fins or making it aero dynamic etc, just cut the bottle to the desired size, make a couple of holes in it at the open end and fasten a piece of 30lb line with two snap link swivels connected to the holes and a free running swivel between the snap links. And then jam a bit of polystyrene into the nose end.
