Can anyone confirm the current situation with fishing days on Cassien? Im looking for a break and am considering heading that way, fishing from the bank in the day and staying on a campsite or similar at night. Catching is secondary to actually wetting a line as I appreciate im probably p*****g in the wind anyway.

Yes it's days only although you wouldn't think so by the number of guys doing nights when I was there last time,I've done exactly what your thinking of doing just don't go in July or August

Or the 1st May / first weekend in May. Carnassier season starts and all hell breaks loose across the lake. Other than that, agree with previous comment, loads of people doing nights but wouldn't risk it personally. It's hard work doing days only and especially if you are going to be using a boat - lots of early starts. However, definitely worth the endeavour and feeding time tends to be towards dark anyway so maybe not much point in starting early every day. Plenty of campsites near the lake, supermarkets etc and a good take away pizza place a few KM's away which was a godsend on those nights when we couldn't be arsed to make food back at base camp.
