A mate of my is rolling some bait. He's having issues with some of the baits floating. Bar some dodgy Ingrediants I can't see why it would float
LT94 - 370g
Whey 80 - 50g
Yeast - 50g
Spice - 50g
Kelp - 25g
Semo - 150
Soya - 150
CLO - 150
Betaine - 5g
Anyone had any similar issues ?
More so in 18mm than 14s. If under cooked so the centre is still like paste they sink.

Trapped air in the mix, perhaps ?
Is he using a bait gun, or hand kneading/rolling sausages, then rolling table.
Depending on the version of CLO, some are coarser, and more egg biscuity, others seem more breadcrumb based and finer.

AA baits for the CLO , he's hand making the paste and then pushing it into an air gun / compressor
Just mad half the mix swells other half boils fine and sinks

Is he letting it stand at all before rolling?

Not sure I can double check with him. That's the only thing I've heard about is yeast causing issues of left to stand.

That was my thought. Told him to try it without and also try it with liver instead so I'll find out this week how he got on

Definitely no krill or squid meal in it, all LT94?

even with Krill you need a lot to make a bait float, I tried to make some cheap natural pop ups last year using 50% krill mixed with soya and semo and they still didn't float lol

No just LT94, that's the recipe he sent me I've just copied it over. When I used to roll bait I had a similar mix and had zero floating issues.
But i had the LT94 at 30% and used PDFM at 7% and shrimp and 3% and that didn't float

Ages ago I had an issue with Trigga floating when I put it through the gun onto the Rolaball. The exact same mix done with a rolling table and onto the Rolaball was OK and sunk.
The rolling table baits were a smoother finish as well.
Is it possible that the baits being gunned onto the table are 'stretched' and holding air as the sausages are rolled, whereas the rolling table is compressing them?

I believe it was a gunning issue. If he loads the gun under 3kg it's fine anything over some float. Must be trapping air from what he's explained.
