Can someone point me in the right direction please. Never needed one until now and I have absolutely no idea what to look for.

Google Tufty Torch, should get a couple of You Tubes to look at. They seem to work better than lazers and are safer.

Yeah I use one, they work really well against Tufties in the daytime.

Any effect on gulls? - they're my main bug bear, basically make it impossible to surface fish on my main waters.

Works on them on dull days not so well on bright days. Swans dont care less about it but not realy an issue for me as min depth is too deep for them, Coots and Tuftys hate it.
Great fun hearding them infront of someone without a torch 500 yards away.

I find with my tuftie torch that the swans, gulls, geese, moorhens, dont move in bright daylight conditions couldnt care less about it I get a bit of reaction in real dull dusky light if they're close in but generally dont care whereas my green laser does better at shifting them, mallards and coots a little better moving them if off in bright conditions if they're reasonably close but best in dull dusk light, tufties I find it works with any light condition out to about 100/150 yards, further if its a dull day.

Yeah mine works really well on tufties in daylight, it's not as good against coots and other birds, but coots don't generally cause as much havoc as tufties, and are much easier to feed off, unless your lake is black with them, in which case - sucks to be you!

Posted on other thread. Bjt avoid the carp tax and searchxebay for the wanfare 20,000lm torch. £15.99 and it's the same as the carp spirit one. Choice of red or green.
