I'm looking for an insulated , waterproof jacket for walking / dog walking etc . Just wondering what people's thoughts were on the Snugpak torrent . Also what is the sizing like ? I have several fortis / Snugpak garments - all large which I wear a hoody underneath and they are a perfect size . Just wondering if I'd need the same size in the torrent - again with a hoody , many thanks .

I really rate mine,very warm and waterproof and fits perfectly.I have xl in my tops and I the Torrent fits fine and I can fit a hoodie under if needed which I have not needed since owning mine

I have the torrent extreme and a snugpak sasquatch and there's alot more room under my sasquatch than the torrent, don't know if the sasquatch is big sized or what. I have found that the less you wear under the torrent the warmer it is.

I have the Torrent(non-extreme) and ordered as per their size guide to what would suit me normally. The fit with a t-shirt and thin fleece below it is as tight as I would like it to be, it simply blocks the cold out and keeps the warmth in very well - fine when it was down to -7 a few weeks ago.
My only gripe would be the zip feels like it needs some wearing in, when pushing into the clasp (no idea what the technical term is) at the bottom. Will use a pencil to add some carbon to it, hopefully smoothen the zip up.
Otherwise, very happy with it 👍

I have recently bought a torrent and I am very happy with it.
Sizewise, I am normally a large and so bought a large. It fits perfect, quite snug with a hoody underneath but I prefer it like that over it being baggy.
I also agree on the zip and zipper. It can be a nightmare at times but I've figured out you need to push it into the zipper firmly before trying to zip it up.

I found mine a little smaller fitting than other make coats i have i am normally in between a medium and large the medium was too small with the large being a nice fit

Thanks for replies . My SJ9 is a large with just the right amount of room for a hoody underneath. Might have to see if I can try one on next time I'm passing a shop that stocks them as I don't want it too tight with a hoody , thanks.

Just to add to this, I thought I would try just wearing a t-shirt under mine this Morning to walk the dog as some people say wearing less allows the body heat to be reflected more effectively.
It was about 0/-1 where I am and I wasn't cold, but not as warm as wearing a long sleeved layer as well.
I concluded that a 2nd layer underneath is better than not, a fleece or Hoodie therefore 👍

Thanks for that . I took a bit of a gamble and ordered one in large (same as all my fortis Snugpak gear) . Got it for £129.99 which I thought was pretty good .

Snugpak sizing? An utter joke. I tried on every jacket Johnson Ross had in L and XL, no two were the same and none fitted me properly - even found a L that was bigger than an XL. Quality control at their factory must be non existent. I got a Pentagon insulated jacket instead - cheaper, better made and true to size. Military 1st sell them.

I done the same at a northern angling show,bloke was baffled and thought I was changing tags around, an sj9 olive in large and an sj9 in camo two totally different cuts and fit..tried every configuration amd walked away from there empty handed

Bewarned the next snugpac jacket up from the torrent which is called the extreme is so warm you cant walk more than 10 mins even with the zip air vents you will sweat til jackets soaking inside.... the torrent is far less insulated and probably more suitable for anglers although the extreme is superb for sitting around lakeside on those long winters nights. Sizing seemed good to me but then i always buy a size up in case i want fleece underneath (beleive me not needed).

Just arrived today in large . It fits fine but as has been mentioned they are small for the size . Looks pretty well made to be honest as is most of the Snugpak gear I've come across.

Great jacket,but they come up small.I usually take an XL but had to go for XXL in the Snugpak Torrent.
