I'm currently looking for a new TV. Never had a smart TV before but hoping to get something reasonably good for around the £350 budget. Anyone know what TV's are good? I'm not very technically minded. Hoping to find a shop that does pay monthly preferably 0% APR. Any advice much appreciated.

In that price range you can't go wrong with this model Samsung UE43AU7100.
4K HDR and all of the main smart apps. Samsung interface is easy to use and their screens are reliable. I'd get it from John Lewis for £329 with a 5 year guarantee.

I've never had much luck with Smart TVs.
I always end up plugging a Firestick into them.

Get a 0% spending credit card from Barclaycard, M&S etc, you cn use it anywhere then and pay what you want each month rather than a fixed rate.
Get a bigger screen than you mentioned, you wont regret it.
Richer Sounds or JL are the only places id buy a tv from, dont use Currys at all !!! If you ring RS they will talk you through what you want and wont just sell you what they want. Sign up to their VIP club, it gets you money off quite often.
Work out what you need beyond the bsic 5 channels then look at what each system offers in the background, Android tv's are good.
Just remember at some point they stop updating the firmware for old tv's so the app's stop, it's their way of getting you to buy a new telly.
And remember a UHD/4K is to a point pointless if the feed into it is either SD or basic HD

I've got two TVs like that so I use Firesticks on them, handy for IPTV

I don't think you can side load onto tv's, might be possible but nowhere near as easy as a tablet or laptop.
That said I can't really think of apps that you would want to do that for anyways plus they wouldn't be updated via the over the air updates.
Did you have any specific apps in mind?

Whats the benifit over other things like itvx sky go, etc etc?

Of course I would never do it myself and I don't condone it but it's possible with IPTV to access things for a small fee that you should really be paying a lot more for.

I would be looking at 49” if your room allows it or bigger.
A sound bar also if you can stretch to it.
And buying from some of the retailers below, John Lewis give 5 year warranty's which is well worth having
You mention smart TV though do you want freeview as a lot come with it build in.
Also what are you plugging into it, you'll only get 4K if your sources provide it.
Of course prime Netflix and the other pay preview channels do 4K content but in reality it's mainly HD
