Just putting the feelers out there to see if anyone would be kind enough to shed any light on this place , The main Boating lake , i have walked it a few times in my teens but never really see anyone fishing. only reason i'm interested is i have moved worked not to far from the place and would be ideal for work over nights. i have emailed the council who run the place but he couldn't tell me any info i.e stock not even a rough guess which is worrying

It's been poached loads over the years so thats probably why the council wouldn't give you any stock info. I've seen people fishing it and have spoke to a couple but rightly so they didn't wanna give away too much. One of them, get a ticket and give it a go.

oh really ? its a fairly large expanse off water so surely some secrets in there and rightly so people not wanting to give much away , i just didn't want to be fishing for non existent carp on the overnighters lol I think that will have to be the way mate thank you

I seem to remember years ago that the carp society gained the lease or fishing rights to this lake.
Late 90's Some of my essex fishing mates said it was an unknown stock up to mid 20's and being poached way back then, even before that happened.

I fished here back in the day and it's true it was poached a lot and a few fish went walkies to various lakes in Essex but it still has some decent ones in there and has a decent stock of fish.. get a ticket and give it a go

Was a fair stock in the boating lake not sure now. Also used bait boat not sure now either but if you was on the fish your get a run b4 you could drive the boat back. Just Tey keep the fish in front of you when there on it

When you say back in the day when are we actually talking mate ? Surely not all of them grew legs , must be a number off them left swimming around ? or even some spawned in ? what was the other fish population like back then ? tench , pike ?

Thanks , yeah reading the rules bait boats are still allowed just when other boats are not on the water. i can see it being a nightmare over there some the summer months are they hire boats and pedalos that could get interesting lol
