After seeing the thread about Carpbandits Cyprinus bivvy I thought I'd post a link to some info that may help others. Goods must be fit for purpose and last a reasonable amount of time, so I would suggest a £500 bivvy that develops a fault after 2 years is not fit for purpose. The other advice is pay for ANYTHING over £100 with a credit card as it offer you protection in these cases.

Even part of the payment on a credit card is good for this. (Thanks Martin Lewis)

A debit card with the visa logo offers alot of protection too,I used something called charge back last year.I did not know it existed until my bank told me and got me all my money back from a scam website

Yep, if the goods are at least £100 and you pay £1 on the credit card and the rest cash you are covered.

If you go a penny into an overdraft, you're covered as well.

Don't forget, there's also a difference if you've used it twice, or 4 days a week, every week in that time as well. And if you were given it as a present. Also, your contract is with the tackle shop, not the manufacturer

“Some” people go direct to the manufacturer instead of the shop they bought from and then they moan that they can't get any help from the manufacturer, so it's manufacturer gets the bad reviews because they don't help.

Xyz customer service is shocking
I bought xxx it broke and they won't answer my calls emails etc
See it loads on here

Correct. Always return goods to the point of purchase as your contract is with them not the manufacturer.

If you actually skip the middle man your affecting your rights.
The manufacturer has no idea who you are and your not his customer so can and will refuse to help you.
