Has anybody used Five Spice in a base mix? I've been messing with it this year and had some interesting results when fished against the same mix without Five Spice.
The only trouble is sourcing a decent amount at a reasonable price as I have been using up to 50g per Kilo.

Chinese or Indian (Asian) wholesalers, get in 1kg, 5kg, etc.

Garlic, madras curry, black pepper, asafoetida, fenugreek, chilli, etc.
Semo, gram, Barri, etc.

Or buy a kg at a time

Try Costco if you have a membership.

Back in the day (mid 80's) the original Cotswold Baits had a bait called Ethnic that had 5 spice as one of the ingredients. Worked very well for me until they ceased to make it in the early 90's, especially with a little Black Pepper oil ...

Thanks for all your suggestions. I've ordered via Amazon from justingredients in the past but the 1kg bags aren't available at the moment.

It is on ebay 1 to 5kgs sacks

I have been using redmoor.shop for more years than I care to remember and the price is nearly always the best and the quality is 100% spot on. I don't use Five Spice but they have it for £11.20 for 1Kg
