Sounds like Fox Arma mesh will do what you require.
Try your local tackle shop or buy online.

A pair of tights.
Mould the paste around your cork ball, then the tights around the bait. With dental floss, a couple of turns around the bait and overhand knot. Then cut your now meshed bait from the main tights, and lighter blob the end of the tights. You can use the dental floss tag ends to tie to a rig ring on your hook on a D-rig.

Thanks very much everyone🤙🏽🤙🏽
I can see how this puts out attraction but does anyone know how long a hookbait would last before the paste has dissolved and disappeared?

That's going to depend on the paste used and water temperature .

I saw someone using a plastic "bait cage" recently. Just Googled it and it came up with -
Enterprise Tackle Bait Cage.

Ive got some muslin cloth that i use for cooking and thinking that would be useful for wrapping baits that wouldn't normally be able to attach to a hair. Similar to tights but the weave isn't as deep as with tights so may enhance leakage. Thinking about it used tights might offer a unique attractor package

>>>>>I can see how this puts out attraction but does anyone know how long a hookbait would last before the paste has dissolved and disappeared?<<<<
When I used to use paste baits etc or soft boilies or pop ups that are not buoyant for long, I would put exactly the same sized bait and fastened to just the hook if it was pierced etc I was fishing with into a small bait bucket full of water and then I could keep an eye on it and when it was broke down, time to rebait.
But, I find that eels and silver fish will soon break a soft bait down quick despite meshing it. With eels you get good rattles on the rod top as their teeth get stuck in the mesh. Soon as the rattles stop, you know the bait has gone. On the lake I fish where eels are a menace and eat anything, they will whittle a couple of meshed soft boilies down in a couple of hours, a paste bait would be even less.
