If baiting up twice a week how much would guys suggest to put in as prebait on a canal/ river. It will be particles with a small amount of tigers. I was thinking about 1.5kg dry so about 3kg cooked? I'm unsure of the stock so I can't comment on stocking..

Doesn't sound like an extortionate amount of bait, can you monitor if it's being eaten?

It's all about the water temperature. When it's gets below 10°C I would reduce the amount of bait by half.

But you should now how much barbels, bream, chub, etc it contains. It could be that your particles will be eaten by these species.

is it a spot your can view or scrape with a small landing net, if so you can see whether the pre bait is being eaten, as to avoid placing more onto uneaten/mouldy bait.

Quite shallow 4-6ft canal or so so I'm sure I can figure something out to check.

I remember fishing the town stretch of a canal over night in December and fished over loads of particles and had a common of around 8-10lb not big but welcome for time of year and it was only a few years ago too, maybe it was because I was fishing right up against a pontoon and it offered warmth

Structures are or can be safe areas, where bits wash up, had a few bites when a boat has just passed , it can be worth chucking a rig and bag in the wash of a boat
