Looking to get a new marker set up and deciding between the above 2 reels. Can anyone compare or give some feedback on either please?

Got 2 ultegra spods and can't fault them. But I love my shims.
Fast retrieve and light enough and smooth.

Have the Ultegra and like it, it's a high quality reel. There are a couple of different models of Emblem spod.

My ultegra stopped oscillating correctly after about 9 months just bought an emblem and it is much better IMO

Never owned the ultegra so cant comment on that one but used the original emblem spod for donkeys years and its never let me down once.

I also have two ultegra spod reels for dedicated spod and chirp use.
I previously owned the Emblem and the only thing with those is the plastic clip falls off after a bit, otherwise a bombproof reel. I prefer the Shimano but in fairness you wouldn't go wrong with either.

Owned and used both over the years. Rig demon has it right.

I have three of the daiwas .
Prefer these due to the folding handles.Also like the two line clips
However they nead a service every two years . They do take slot of abuse as spomb and marker reels. I try not to dunk them in water but as using braid a do wet the braid before every cast so guess they do get wet.

Cheers for the feedback guys. Based on the below gone for the Ultegra purely as I have used Shimano reels over the years and got on well enough with them

Haven't had my clips pop off were you using them correctly ? It's not common knowledge just best to take the lone round the top tuck through and back in its self.

Yes I was using it correctly, but the small plastic clip is so flimsy I'm surprised it lasted two sessions let alone 2 years.

To be fair to daiwa the plastic clips were never designed as a tool for clipping up merely a line retainer hence their sprung clips designed for the method are denoted as high impact stops or clips.

I'm going to take a bit of a stab in the dark here but i reckon the ss2600 sprung clip from custom reel king will probably fit although i haven't tried it myself.......yet
