Anyone fished on here who can give a review of the lake / fishing?

Possibly going here in the coming months ( shallow end of the lake) and just after any information people have 👍🏽

Could be very shallow given the weather we have all had.

I fished it sometime ago now Reuben not a venue I would want to return to for various reasons, long narrow from the bowl up to the shallows not much room or depth, far too many swims the bowl is crowded out with far too many swims as well and anglers fishing back to back basically, worst rat infested ****hole I've ever been to, owner if he could would charge for the air you breath, motorboat straight up the middle of the lake twice a day delivering meals at a speed you could wakeboard on, dutch anglers mainly were up and down the lake all day long in the boats which did my head in, I woke the one morning to one sat right in front of my marker over the baited area at what you would deem as bite time he was having a chat with whoever, I shouted at him to **** off he shrugged his shoulders and drifted for the next couple of minutes finishing his call went over my other markers and all across my mates baited area before he buggered off, the anglers opposite us came late on the Saturday so were rushing to setup see our markers out and basically came within 5 to 10 yards of our markers and tipped a 20 litre bucket of particle behind them and the following morning after about 12 hours fishing packed up and moved into a swim in the shallows opposite other anglers and did the same.

we were booked on for two weeks one week in 8 and 9 then the following week in peg 19 we put the first week down to experience and lasted one more night when we moved into 19 when which could only be described along that bank as an outdoor toilet area, the ditch 20 yards behind with an hedge running along it had turds and ****ty paper hanging up in the branches where previous anglers had launched the contents of their buckets, If it hasn't changed I'd give it a swerve.

Sounds delightful! Obviously a money making venture and nothing more.

I could tell within a minute of turning up and meeting the owner after a 14 hour trip when he offered a cup of coffee and I said lovely yes please that would be very nice to which he made me a drink and then held his hand out and said one euro please, not even one free brew on arrival that he was a grabbing ****.

Oh, well I wish I had read this earlier as we booked on swim 9 this morning 🤣
We really didn't have much in the way of options after losing our preferred swim at chataliers and to be fair pretty much all reviews on various websites are very positive and many repeat customers etc so hopefully it's changed a bit since you were there.
There's been a particle ban for a few years so presuming it was a while ago you went?
We've paid now so will just have to go and see what it's like, it's pretty much all UK anglers when we are on so fingers crossed people won't be idiots like when you were there and everyone can just fish thier part of the lake!
Out of interest did you have anything out of 9 when you were in it?
And price wise they definitely are a bit funny the way they run it, shower are 2.50 euro a time and things like that, but apart from the odd visit for a shower and charging items we are hoping to just not have to interact much and get on with our fishing!

Water levels I've been assured by the place itself are at normal levels due to it being river fed. So fingers crossed they are being truthful! Will find out in a few weeks

Charge him for the bandwidth you've had to use enquiring about his place.
FFS, does he expect you to hop to your swim so you dont wear the grass out?

My mate fished in 9 he had 3 to hi 30's but it was early March and bitterly cold, I've just had a look at the lake map and swims and they have definitely altered it around and dropped quite a few swims by the looks of it swims as my Dutch mate was in peg 20 (one of the decent Dutch anglers on the lake that week) next to the Briggsy cabin which is no longer showing and I can remember a lot more pegs in the shallows to what it is showing now.

I'm hoping you have a far better experience than I did, Armfield Angling have taken it onto their books since I visited so its seen a lot of British anglers since I went, I was watching the lake for a few years and it was popular among the Dutch anglers which was 3 or 4 years before Briggsy and Hales and the like started going there regularly which they stopped going for a few years then as I swear blind they had a big fish kill as catch rates slowed up and sizes of fish went down for a while but it is getting back on that front to how it was.

Can only agree with the earlier comments - rat infested is an under statement... I've been twice, never again, after the first trip we were assured that the rat problems had been dealt with, b******s, there were as bad, if not worse than the first time.

The swims were basically bare clay, if it rained it was like the Somme all your gear is covered in mud

Poisson chat were a nightmare on the second visit as the surrounding streams were in flood and washed them all in to the lakes and despite pointing this out to Paul Armfield personally about them, he seemed to be completely oblivious to the problem.

There are FAR better lakes closer to the UK, where the owners take pride in the lakes and the level of service that they offer... AVOID
Are you sure?
