Hopefully someone can help me find out the name of the weed in the lake I'm currently fishing.
It has large bright green curly edged leaves similar to lily, but it stays under the surface. A few people called it water cabbage, others called said it was a type of lily.

anyone that's fished a river will tell you this too. They can be a real pain just retrieving rigs, let alone landing fish. strong tackle and braid i'd advise. or a very abrasion resistant mono like the hydrotuff.

If thats the density I see no issues. On the other hand, it depends on what distance and angle you fish from, whether you have a boat, what type of rods you use, whether you loose your lead after a take, if you use braid or mono and so on. Or maybe I just hate easy answers.

The good news is, if you do get snagged and reel some in you can put it in your ham sandwiches.

Density varies but when casting a lead into it, it touches bottom and I've cast in with a bare rig and haven't got it snagged. The stems don't seem to cause too much trouble
I'm thinking a solid pva bag would protect the hook and leave a nice little pile of food there too.

Just toss it. If anything, a boilie in the weed is totally different than one on the bottom. I used to be very insecure about that, but now I just cast and catch nothing less.
