If you were caught speeding, say 35 mph and you choose to pay the £100 fine instead of going to the speed awareness course, and you tell your insurance company, what kind of increase do they put on when you renew, just wondering as insurance companies do not like to pay out but do like to take your money.

I got 3 points a few years ago and it didn't go up by much, if it all. Hoping it's the same next time I renew as I got another ticket last week.

Haven't had a nick for speeding for over a decade now but the times I've had just 3 points it's made no difference to my insurance. When I got a second lot of 3 taking me up to 6 it was quite a chunk

I'll just hope for the best until I find out what the old bill are gonna stick on me, and then what my insurers think!

Your the 1st one I've heard to say something good about it,
I'm not having a pop at you but everyone I know thats been
on it says its a waste of time, I was caught at 36mph, just came
over a bridge and picked up a bit more speed, they know where to
place them selves, I think its best to tell the insurance company,
you're better off paying more and being insured than not.

Ryan, I forgot to ask, how did the insurance company find
out about you speeding, did the bill grass you up or did you
confess

For the first 3 points, it was when I renewed. The Insurance Policy didn't require me to inform them at the time.
I have since changed providers so will need to check the documents, so probably best to check yours too but I am fairly certain that the cops won't be doing anything other than endorsing your license and taking your money.
