My local lakes are suffering low water levels. My question is how shallow would you consider too shallow to fish when fishing for fish up to 40lb ? A couple of spots I fish that have been quite productive in the past are now about 18” deep and whilst I've seen carp to low 20's swimming through this area I'm in two minds whether this is too shallow for fish to 40lb to feed in , thanks.

If they can swim on it, they will feed on it

I'd have to see them there before I fished it, whilst they have no problems with their backs out the water, I would like to be sure.

Put a bait in the deeper water on the approach to the shallows.
