Toying with getting some 10ft rods as my current water is 99% bait boat work to the far margin (80 - 100 yards). It's a long time since I used a Century FBS but the action was great. Can anyone give me a comparison of the action of the two rods?

Very different actions, you would be better off taking a reel with line to a shop and setting up to put a bend in them with the line through to be sure you get what your looking for. I've wasted to much in the past on rods that were raved about on social media. I've had fbs in 12ft 2.75tc and loved them so I'd guess you will prefer them to the fs.

cheers mate, I thought the Hi-S was a fairly through action - I guess not. Just read the FS website and yeah I thinkI will avoid.

Get one from the s range if you want a through actioned free spirit rod. The hi s have a stiffer butt section.

If going shorter reduce the test.. shorter rods in higher tests feel stiffer. Always Free Spirit.

i use the FBS in 10ft, nice through action, nice to play fish.

If looking at the FBS you may want to hold off as there is a new/updated version (I want to say it is called the FBS 22) coming out according to Century's Facebook. No sign on the website yet though.
