I live on the edge of Ipswich, and for years I have been travelling around 80miles to fish, apart from a couple of years on Ardleigh and Alton reservoirs.
Getting onto Nunnery or West Stow might be an option, although I don't know the way to go.
Alternatively I do know Earith Carp Lakes over in Cambridgeshire as I fished it, albeit 20years ago (?!)
I really enjoyed the time on there, plenty of fish to a regularly fed food bait.

I've fished extensively in Cambridgeshire for the last 25 years and with the exception of one, you've just named some of the worst waters in the area
To the OP - just get on line and all the information you want is there. A couple of the best carp waters in the UK are in Cambridgeshire and there are loads of decent waters in the Fens and along the path of the A14.

And much of those waters are very hard to get on, yes I know you have the likes of Woolpack, not sure how St Ives is one of the worst in the area?
