After abit of advice on what would be the ideal test curve marker rod, l don't fish really big waters so mainly fishing around 70/80 yards max, at the moment l've just got a old fox 2.75 tc marker rod but do you think abit higher test curve would give me abit feel with just a lead on.

Century MFF marker rod is a great piece of kit, really appreciate mine since I picked it up secondhand a few months ago.
Do you use both Marker and spod rod in conjunction? as in marker rod out find your spot float up and bait to it with a spod rod then main rod to marker and wind marker rod in.
Marker rods are traditionally around 3.5/3.75lb test combined with braid on the reel for the sensitivity transfer, I only use a 4.5lb test application rod these days with a big loop at the end of the braid, loop a lead on cast out feeling down for judging the depth, find a nice area in the pond put the braid in the clip wind in and check around the sticks for distance, slip the lead off loop spomb on to bait up with and then wrap main rods around the sticks clipped up to distance and cast out, if I want to know the depth for zigs or it feels really deep I'll set it up in the traditional marker float method pass the braid through the lead swivel so its running then corkball or rubber bead next then loop on the float, saves carrying a marker rod for it's own application.

I agree and usually carry a 12 and 13ft spod rod for the various applications.
A nice stiff spod rod is also handy for getting a marker float set up back through a load of weed if needed.
I tend to use the 12ft to lead around and if helpful popping up a float. 13ft for big spombs or spombing to the marker float if trying to keep it super tight

Will one rod do for both jobs?

For years I had separate rods but bit the bullet and got a Hybrid S&M rod. I got the Sonik Vader Hybrid, the original. I had problems with ring liners popping out, the bottom 3 all went. I have popped them back in and resorted to Araldite to glue them back in.

Thanks for all the replies some sound advice, and with fishing smaller waters never really needed a spod rod managed with my throwing stick and catapult with my waders on usually to get the distance so the Hybrid S&M rod sounds just the job, many thanks lads
