I recently sold my Deeper Pro + as I didnt really need or use it anymore
and after chatting to someone about the GREEN chirp + thats now discontinued !!
I did some research as there are loads of s/h ones for sale on Facebook market place and a mate who missed my one I sold asked for my advice
now now there is a Deeper Smart Sonar PRO+ 2
and
Deeper Smart Sonar CHIRP+ 2
BUT ! no green models !
now apparently the BIG differences are the earlier ones were BLUETOOTH the new ones are WIFI !!!
this make connection and range vastly superior
hope this may help someone thinking of buying one as I didnt think it was common knowledge ?
And if you phone deeper they will give you a 10% discount code to buy directly from them

Don't think any used Bluetooth, except maybe a lot cheaper one they selt, when they started out selling em ?
Don't use mine loads, new Lake swims or new swims on Trent etc.
Good for measuring distance to a deep spot, or drop off.
Good for depths at least, plus you can go back to data, rather than do it all again.

Hi, looking a bit, think the first basic ones were Bluetooth, just called Deeper (40 to 50m range), well at first were Bluetooth.
But would think majority people on here bought ones with 100m range, Deeper Pro, Deeper Pro +, there WiFi (100m range).
IMO even the latest, you will need to buy a wifi extender to get a lot greater range (batteries etc do get better thou, which are a limiting factor). With Older or latest Deepers. Chirp 2 + does say 120m.
Some have used them with a baitboat with phone or tablet init & done loads more.
Bluetooth was created for low power devices, battery power. Wifi used for similar now.
Used my Deeper Pro Plus the other day, had to change to the narrow beam, then it would do 3.5ft depth. But you lose out on area covered. Newer ones like Chirp have more beam settings, but if narrower, do you lose out in area covered ?
Must be better in some ways thou.

it was replaced by the CHIRP+2 which has longer battery life and the longer connection range. If you are planning to explore the shallow waters, I believe that the CHIRP sonar will the most suitable for you, because of the CHIRP technology, the sonar image is more detailed, and with significantly less noise in the sonar readings, making it easier to distinguish between the objects displayed: the bottom from the fish, the fish next to the grass, the school of fry from the big fish.

I had a chirp+ but ditched it as I wasn't using it enough and had a Toslon fitted to my baitboat which although arguably not as detailed is 100x more consistent in terms of connectivity at all ranges - and that is the problem with deeper IMO - the same problem as the smartcast in that you are over a spot and the signal goes - nothing more frustrating! A wifi extender does alleviate this however its just more kit to take - saying that I'd buy one again if fishing a weedy water with a baitboat ban

Cheaper WiFi extenders as well.
ND Baitboats do a Wifi Extender for the Deeper, £100 i think.

Don't go there Gerry - waaay too expensive - you'll need one of these (recommended)

Waterproof / compact / decent range and you can charge your tablet whilst using - decent kit. I used to stick mine to the back of a tablet (on a tripod) with 3M lock tape
