Fishings been on a. bit of a back burner for me recently (covid, house move, work, life). However the itch is back and one of my favourite waters is calling and I know in the next couple of weeks I should have more time to get back on the bank.

I ordered a new Tempest 150 EV last year but it didnt arrive until the tail end of 2021 and I havent had a chance to get it out of the bag until yesterday. Bugger me, it was difficult to get up. I know from previous experience (Ive had a couple of tempest brolly's) they can be a little stiff at first, but that aside - its just the sheer size of the thing. I'm a fairly big bloke, 6'2 with arms like an orangutang and yet still I struggled to fan the thing out before using the lever to finish it. I think the issue is the height of it, which ironically was why I got it in the first place (getting too old and stiff to stoop down under a brolly).

So, any tips for fanning out a 150 ? ....or any useful YouTube links ?

Ive got a tempest xl and a pioneer 150 - I also have a tempest air so think its quite comparible

I hear you but not sure there are any real tips its just harder as its bigger -0 i

Its why I use the air most the time lighter, easier to manouvere and do you really need the extra room of the 150???

Put the poles together, semi fan out then go pop in the back three pegs then fan it out properly. The tempest when new is always a ******* to set up,the material will give a little after a few set ups and become easier.I hate how much pressure is needed to get the front tension bar and locking collar on

And watch the two front long legs are not catching or snagged on the ground, very easy to bend a pole as i found out, try to lift the front up if possible.

The old Nash Titan back rib had a spike on it, to help with this.

I got one of these a couple of months ago, I am only 5'8 and only have trouble with it in the wind, so its not your size/height.
If its a bit windy I peg one of the back legs down while its on the floor then stand it up and fan it out.

Ive got a tempest xl which is the same as the 150 and never really had any issues. Just fan it out and attach the sleeve.

Cheers fella's - hadn't thought of trying a peg - I recon that should help - in fact I think its the rear 3 poles that are the trouble so could probably do 3 at the back to start with- hopefully it'll stretch a little after a few times and then get easier. Well happy with it once its up, but cant see me getting it into some of the swims on some of my club waters. It will definitely need two trips with the barrow though as it weighs a ton (Im too used to traditional and tempest brolly weight). Its perfect for me these days (getting old sucks!), especially with the social wrap thingy, but my new favourite water has mahoosive swims

Week after nexts booked off, freezers re-stocked, rigs are tied and gone through all my tackle getting ready. Cant fooking wait
Are you sure?
