Had an opportunity the other day to browse a decent tackle shop for the first time in a long while and noticed a few baits looked quite different to how i had remembered.

I know there has been a ban come into effect regarding some colours and dyes but wondered if anyone has noticed any difference in effectiveness or even quality of baits that they use.

In the shop i noticed Dynamite Source and DNA S7. I used the Source years ago and the colour now is no longer as deep or rich red but almost a washed out weak red.

The source, of disputed origins 🤪

Robin red has been b@stardised more times than any of Bob Dylan's songs and the latest feed permitted versions get there red colour from beetroot. A lot of us jokingly called it “Robin brown” or “Robin maroon”.

I'm not sure if it's in S7 as well as I've never asked them.

You will notice shades of difference between batch batches with large percentages of fishmeal now and again as the fishmeal colour can vary a bit

I'm not really referring to the more subtle variables affecting ingredients but those that have changed due to legal requirements and whether people believe it changes anything. I would imagine there are lots of baits affected by such requirements. Has anyone noticed a change for better or worse in what they use?

DNA S7 has had to use an alternative source of colour, a change from a synthetic dye to a natural version it states on their site.

Most the requirements come from EU rules so only really relevant if sending bait to europe to be honest, but the main colour change in robin red is down to European legislation.

Wrong- the uk maintained or adopted all the same rules as the EU in terms of animal feed and human feed substances as part of the process during brexit. And they have mirrored most since.

RR had somthing in it that was banned before brexit... they took aim a a large amount of E number colourings several years before it

I'm sorry but I'm dictated to by these rules 👍🏼 U.K. has renaged on many and even less are actually policed.

I have never once had a shipment of white powders samples for testing and I've sent and received a hell of a lot of em, and with the colours, the one I refer to isn't banned in the U.K.

It's very different if sending things out there tge requirement differences are huge and you need a bet to sign off every shipment at both ends and have registered facilities each end.

Are you sure?
