Thought I would post an initial review of the Chris Brown landing net that I have just received. Note that I have not used it yet, so this is purely cosmetic and covering the transaction process. I will try and update once I have actually used it.

My main reason for posting was that I couldn't actually find much information about this net, certainly not many pictures.

Starting off with the order process - I decided that I wanted different cosmetics to standard. It looked a bit too green for me, so when I ordered, I added a note asking if different whipping (blue) was an option. Soon after ordering, I got a call from Chris (which I missed unfortunately) saying that it was not a problem, but the stickers would be green. I decided that Black tipped with green, rather than green tipped with black was the way forward. No problem - Delivery within 7-10 days which it was!

So, on to the landing net. The pole looks like this at one end -

And this at the other -

The knurled aluminum stopper unscrews to allow the 3' extension to be added. Note that the 6' carbon pole is fixed to the spreader block, so only 6' or 9' options. See below for the extension ready to be added

The net has a wire rather than cord and the arm have rounded ends to spread the load. The wire does look quite thin...

Finally the arms that go onto the spreader block. These are lined with metal.

The net seems easy enough to put together and the pole is much thicker than standard poles. You can tell it is an "artisan" net. I am looking forward to using it to see if it lives up to the hype!

How did you find the net in use?

I have just received a 42 inch carbon and it seems an awesome piece of kit - not used in anger but did enlist my 26kg dog to sit in it to test stiffness under load! Can't envisage much flex under the weight of mesh/water.

I've had mine for 3 years plus now and have only used it when fishing abroad (a few times a year) as my current syndicate requires use of their own nets. Quite simply though, it is fantastic: lightweight, stiff arms (which makes landing fish in weed easy), robust and the extension is really useful at times.
Only issue I have found is that when using the extension, make sure there isn't any grit / dirt fouling the thread, otherwise it can be a pig to tighten up / break down.
Quite simply, the only net I will ever buy again and I intend on buying another one soon to make sure I'm covered for the rest of my life. Just out of interest, my mate purchased the fibreglass version and I can't tell the difference between the carbon and fibreglass one when using them. Buy with total confidence, class product, built to last a lifetime.

Ideal thanks - I have sent him an email asking about a two piece handle as I use 10ft rods for a majority of my fishing? May see if he will do me a 3ft spreader block section so I can use the 3ft section it comes with?

There is one on eBay at present with 3 x 3ft handle - may be worth a punt.
