So I've got a set of Aircurves 12ft 3.25 tc and I've been casting to about 120/130 yards with a 3.5oz lead. I've also inherited a set of soniks sk3 xtr's 12ft but 3.5 tc. My question is would they be better for casting a slightly heavier lead and would I gain much distance? I realise the Greys aren't top end rods but are probably better than the soniks so would probably have a better blank. I remember watching a casting film on Youtube and the guy managed slightly further with a 3.5oz lead instead of a 4oz. Curious as to peoples thoughts?

Everyone is different, arm strength, height, technique etc. Best way is to take one of each rod out and a few leads and have a chuck.
