Hi as previously mentioned I have had some issues with my new gold spool emblems jamming up as a result of the line guard slipping out of their runners. I've also had to bend the spool housings get to get them to re seat properly. Has anyone else had this problem and did you manage to fix it? Someone previously mentioned adding bushes instead of line guards? Does this help? Any info would be great as I feel I've wasted hundreds of pounds on reels I'm now scared to use. Thanks

If they are not right just take them back to the shop you bought them from.

I could do but having spent money on new washers etc I thought I'd find out if there was a better fix first.

Had the same problem on shimano 5500. Angling direct suggested shimano would not do anything. Bought a new line guard and I think it's ok now. I then used new emblems and had same problem. Think there is a design problem. Had the chance to look at older model of 5500 and saw the line guard does not come as far up the guide groove. The shimano comes within a few mm of top of groove.

Glad it's not just me. I always thought daiwa and shimano made bomb proof reels but these reels are so flawed. I guess I'll just have to accept the fact that they are not for for purpose.
