I require a bathroom wallpapering and painting.
Could anyone please offer advice on the required materials please in order to provide a sustainable finish.
Thoughts on products for sealing the walls, wallpaper, wallpaper paste, paint and any other materials that would be best suited.

I'm no painter but I've a mate who is and I've just recently asked him about paint brands as I'm fed up buying rubbish that takes coat after coat to cover ,and he recommended either Dulux diamond or a brand called tikarula ( probably spelt wrong ) which he reckons is the bee's knees, easily cleanable and long lasting .

Any other advice on materials, ie wallpaper, sealer for the walls prior to putting on paper and paste would be greatly appreciated should anyone else have thoughts on this please?.

I wouldn't recommend wallpaper in a bathroom mate , to much condensation about , it'll probably be peeling off within 6 months

Exactly, the very worst thing you could have in a bathroom, same goes for curtains.

Wallpaper would last a lifetime in your bathroom seeing you don't wash

Look at Aqua Board, www.interiorpanelsystems.co.uk will show you what I'm on about, very quick and easy to clad a wall with the stuff, hygienic and wont start stinking and changing colour like wallpaper will in 6 months time.

There is going to be aquaboard in the other bathroom which it does indeed look good stuff.

Prior to purchasing our former council house the council themselves papered and painted our bathroom. Some 15 years later it's as good as the day they did it. However, I've no idea as to what materials were used.

The bathroom was redesigned in order to accommodate our disabled daughters needs and decorated afterwards.

100% agree.
Make sure there is adequate ventilation (e.g an extractor) and steer clear of paper and paint if you can; in the long run it makes life so much easier. Trust me, I know, since I am dealing with two horrific bathrooms at the moment and never want to have to try and fix them ever again!

I remember back in the 80's a council down this way bought a job lot of paint off the Navy, for years after anything they painted inside and out was battleship Grey, my mate was a painter and decorator for the council at the time.

When googling regards wallpapering and painting a bathroom there is absolutely nothing wrong with it providing of course appropriate materials are used that are designed for this use.
