Lots of factors to consider which raise lots of potential questions
My simplest advice would be that I never use loads of bait in the winter, preferring to use small amounts around the hookbait.
Secondly, go with what you know and feel confident with even after a long spell out. If fishmeal was your thing, then start back with what you're familiar with.
This time of year, I'd have maggot, bread and spam with me for a chance of a bite if other baits are failing

Corn is another good winter bait.
If using boilies as hookbait, a little pva mesh bag or pva stick with ground up boilies in will do the trick. Or even fish a single.
Try different things on different rods.
Try to locate fish, if you can't, do your homework on the venue and see where the hotspots are in winter.
