Would you guys say tournies are too heavy for 9/10ft rods and would feel unbalanced

The simple answer is unless your stood holding them most of the time it really isnt an huge issue.

Of course a smaller reel is more ideal but if all I had was tournies from a 12ft set up, then I wouldnt be put off using them on smaller rods either.

I'm fishing a shaggy as hell private lake that I found on one of my walks with the missus during lockdown 12fters would be a no no as it's all overhanging trees and overgrown etc so I'm keen to use my tournies as they are super reliable and rugged but as you say unless I'm standing holding them it's not going to be an issue didn't think of it like that
