Very sad and must have been shocking for her family but hardly surprising things like that happen there given how some of their security / police act.
I've been to America a few times and once had a first hand experience just how gun happy they can be.
Obviously their gun laws don't help but as the link suggests their training seems to be very firearm orientated and consequently their gun option often gets used far too early and in the main unnecessarily.

I was in a shooting range in west palm just before covid hit everywhere and my mate who lives there introduced me to 2 coppers practicing and they was crap. prob was retired usa marines..
